Filming In Mississippi

Named after the Mississippi River on the western border, Mississippi is a lowland state with the highest point being Woodall Mountain at 807 feet. From the area around the Mississippi River filled with bottomland swamps and forests to the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, the state offers a vast amount of great locations. Combined with beautiful historical sites, vibrant cities and picture-perfect small towns, the state of Mississippi is a fantastic place to a shoot.

Film Insurance Requirements in the State of

Mississippi requires filmmakers working on city, county, or state property (including roads and highways) to list that entity as additionally insured on the production’s Certificate of Insurance. Mississippi will also advise private property owners to obtain this coverage from productions as a standard part of their location agreements. Location agreements and appropriate insurance paperwork for both public and private properties should be executed prior to the filming of each location. A copy of the company’s standard location agreement and the insurance certificate must be on file with the Film Office.
